Your Pleasure Is Your Power

by Donna Savage | Certified Relationship & Embodiment Coach

“When a woman remembers her pleasure, she remembers her power.”

The Forgotten Power of Pleasure

Somewhere along the journey of being a daughter, lover, wife, mother, or career woman, we were conditioned to prioritize everything but ourselves.
Pleasure? That was framed as indulgent, inappropriate, or reserved for someone else’s satisfaction.

Especially as we age, the narrative becomes even more stifling
“You’re too old to be sexy.”
“You should tone it down.”
“Focus on being useful, not desirable.”

But here’s the truth:

Your pleasure is not a privilege.
It is a birthright. A sacred reminder that you are alive, radiant, and worthy no matter your age, shape, or relationship status.

Redefining Pleasure (It’s Not Just About Sex)

Pleasure is not just about sex.
It is about being in full relationship with your body, your senses, your emotions, and your joy.

It’s the goosebumps from your favorite song.
The warmth of sunlight on your face.
The way your hips sway when no one’s watching.
The deep breath you didn’t know you needed.

Pleasure is not frivolous it is healing.
It calms the nervous system, reconnects you to your truth, and helps you reclaim your body from stress, trauma, and silence.

When we deny ourselves pleasure, we disconnect from the very energy that fuels our creativity, magnetism, and intuition.

Reclaiming Your Body After 40

Our bodies change but they are not broken. They are becoming wiser, more intuitive, and deeply sensual in new ways.

Many women over 40, 50, and 60 carry grief, shame, or numbness around their bodies due to:

  • Menopause symptoms such as dryness, fatigue, or weight changes
  • Trauma or past relationships that taught them to disconnect from their desires
  • A culture that praises youth and dismisses mature beauty

If that’s you, know this:

You are not too late. You are just beginning.
Reclaiming your sensuality is not a luxury. It’s a return to your birthright.

Making Pleasure a Daily Practice

Pleasure doesn’t need to be earned. It can begin right now.

Here are ways to integrate pleasure into your daily life:

  • Slow down. Whether you’re drinking tea or getting dressed, do it with awareness.
  • Anoint your body. Use oils or lotion with care and intention. Touch yourself with reverence.
  • Create a sensual space. Soft lighting, music, textures let your environment nourish you.
  • Take pleasure breaks. Stretch. Breathe. Move. Dance. Receive.
  • Reflect. Journal questions such as:
What brought me joy today? What did my body crave? What made me feel alive?

Pleasure builds awareness.
Awareness builds confidence.
Confidence builds power.

From Silence to Self-Expression

Too many women were taught to silence their desires. To hide their sensuality. To feel shame for wanting more.

But now, in this stage of life, you no longer need to shrink.

Speak your needs without apology.
Say yes to what brings you joy.
Say no to what drains your energy.
Let yourself be seen, touched, loved not because you need it, but because you deserve it.

When a woman reclaims her pleasure, she becomes magnetic. Not because of how she looks but because she is fully alive.

Your Pleasure Is Sacred

You are not too old.
You are not too much.
You are not selfish for wanting to feel beautiful, held, awakened, and desired.

Your pleasure is your power.
Your pleasure is your protest.
Your pleasure is your return to yourself.
